Eating Disorder and Trauma Therapy for the LGBTQ Community
My name is Kian Zlutnick Rank (they/he) and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Certified Body Trust Provider, and the founder of The Grounded Body Project. I provide individual therapy to those living in Minnesota, and consulting to clinicians across the country. I specialize in eating disorders and trauma in the queer/trans community.
I have worked in the eating disorder field since 2020, and am passionate about supporting individuals of all backgrounds with their recovery journeys. Many of my clients come to sessions with me never having discussed their relationship to food or their bodies before. Others are in recovery and are seeking a therapist who can offer continued support. Regardless of where you are in your journey, I am here to offer a caring, warm, and curious presence.
In our sessions together, we will explore past and present day experiences that affect your relationship to food and your body, including relational/complex trauma, gender identity, perfectionism, and grief. While this work is hard, I also have seen it completely transform my clients' lives and relationships, both to themselves and others.
My experience previous to entering private practice includes working with the Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) and as a member of FEDUP, an international collective that focuses on eating disorders in the trans community. I am a Certified Body Trust Provider, and work from an anti-diet and fat justice lens. I am committed to continued education in the eating disorder field, and am currently taking classes through Lewis and Clark College's eating disorder certificate program. As a trans-identified provider, as well as someone recovered from an eating disorder myself, I have a special focus in offering support to members of the queer and trans community.
After growing up in the South, I moved to Minneapolis, where I lived for 12 years. I now live in New Orleans, Louisiana and see Minnesota clients virtually. I am in the process of getting dually licensed in Louisana.
